Visit to Carpet Exhibition
Tuesday 27th June
Zozan's on the Lambermontplaats, near the Museum of Fine Arts,
is part restaurant and part exhibition space. We start with an
in-depth talk on carpets and an explanation of how they are made,
while looking at the carpets that are on display. We then move
from the exhibition area to the restaurant and bring our ADFAS
season to an end with an hour or so of pleasant conversation, good
food and excellent company.
Time: 5 pm. The cost will depend on the menu you choose for
dinner.

Europalia Russia in Brussels
Saturday 21st January 2006
A Visit to two Europalia Russia Exhibitions in Brussels
Morning: Symbolism in Russia
Marking the turn of the century, Russian Symbolism broke away from 19th century Realism and foreshadowed the Avant-Garde movements. It drew its inspiration from legends, tales or myths, from music, theatre or religion, journeys to the East or Occidental influences, and attempted to express the indefinable, the ineffable, the inexpressible. Its production reflects ambiguous, obscure worlds and transposes reality into an imaginary world.
Afternoon: The Fabergé Exhibition, the Romanov’s Jeweller
Espace Culture ING, Place Royale, Brussel
The magic of the precious objects created by Carl Fabergé (1846-1920) – eggs, flowers, jewellery,
figurines and boxes is legendary. The tsars Alexander III and Nicolas II frequently used them to seal their political, economic, military, and social relationships, both in Russia and abroad.
